NCC Cadets of the college got C certificates under this convocation held at D.A.V College Hoshiarpur on 11thJune, 2019. 4 NCC Cadets received Convocation Certificates

A Seminar on Career Counselling and Guidance was organised by Career counselling and placement cell on 25/05/2019. The seminar gave insights about how important it is for every student to remain aware of the various career opportunities available and the required qualification. The Seminar emphasised on the point that the students need to stay in touch with various newspapers, websites for the available work opportunities. 45 students were present in the seminar.

Convocation was organised in college campus on 3 April 2019.Prof Raj Kumar distributed the degrees to students and motivated them to stay consistent and work in right direction to achieve their goals.

12 Days IT-Literacy Workshop was organized by Computer society from 18-march-2019 to 30-March-2019 to teach basic computer terminology to support staff of the college. NSS unit of the college organised a Seminar on Water conservation on World water day on 22 march. Mr. Avinasg Rai khanna (Ex.MP) was the chief guest.

Declamation Contest on "World and 2nd World War, Akbar and his Policies, Reservation and Religion, and Politics" was organized by Dept. of Political Science and Dept. of History

NSS unit& Red Ribbon Club organized poster making competition on voting awareness on 20/02/19. Students actively participated in this competition. 12 students actively participated in the event.

NSS and Red Ribbon Club of S.D. College Hoshiarpur Organized a District level Youth Convention on 18/02/19.The main motive of this convention was to aware the students regarding social evils such as Drug addiction and Female Feticide. It was a great learning experience for 87 the students

The Department of Computer Science and Applications under the guidance of principal Dr. Nand Kishor, conducted 30 days short term course on Tally. 25 students from various streams participated and learnt to maintain journals, ledgers, trial balance, and Balance sheet electronically. They also learnt to handle Tax entries like GST and VAT.The short term course was conducted from 5-feb-2019 to 15-March-2019 by Ms. Neena(Asst. Prof. in Computer) .

Language and Literary club organised a Poem recitation competition. 18 students participated in this event.

The Institute invited renowned expert Mrs. Sangeeta Hadda for the workshop on “IPR and patent rights”. Mrs Nisha Arora and Mr. Keshav were conveners of this workshop.It was an interactive session with all the Heads of the Department and Assistant Professors working in various research areas.The session was conducted on 24/11/2018 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. It was very knowledgeable session.

NSS unit of the college organized a seven day camp from 7th Jan,2019 to13th Jan. 2019.Various activities such as cleanliness drive, rallies on environment conservation, tree plantation, visit to old age home, orphanage, slum areas, eye donation and blood donation camp etc. were conducted during the camp. 83 students participated in this camp.

Alumni meet was organised in college campus by Alumni Association.Prominent Alumni of the college in various fields were present in this meet.

NSS unit distributed winter clothes, utensils, sanitation material in the slum area and khusht ashram on 19th November, 2018. The people of slums areas are not given love and attention often times will develop many psychological illnesses such as depression. Hence, one of the objectives of such visits is to provide them with love and care . 10 students along with 4 teachers participated in the event.

NSS unit& Red Ribbon Club organized poster making competition on drug deaddiction on 14thNovember, 2018. 8 students took part in this competition.The main objective of the event was to spread awareness about the physical, emotional, social and psychological impact of drugs use .students benefitted a lot from this event.

Green Diwali was celebrated by NSS unit& Red Ribbon Club on 2nd November, 2018.The event focused on using sustainable and eco-conscious practices, such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and avoiding activities that contribute to pollution. 67 students actively participated in the event.

A Oneday National Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Commerce and Management” was held at S.D. College, Hoshiarpur on 31/10/2018 with the joint efforts of the Department of Commerce & Management. Mrs. Manjit Kaur was the convener of the seminar. The seminar provided an ideal forum for the interaction of ideas and information between academicians, professionals and practitioners in order to understand the emerging issues of commerce and Financial Management.50 delegates, importantly half of whom have been students of M.Com. And B.B.A, participated in this seminar. .

NSS unit Supported the specially-abled students of Ashakiran in exhibition of handmade items held on 25th October, 2018. The students and teachers of S.D College Hoshiarpur helped the specially-abled students by buying their products. Maximum number of students purchased items from this exhibition.

NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club organized a rally on stubble burning on 12th October, 2018. The rally was organized with an objective to make awareness among masses about the harmful effects of stubble burning on environment and health. 86 students participated in the event.

NSS unit participated in happy street programme organised by district administartion on Gandhi Jayanti by placing a shanti ki diwar on 02/10/18. Students of the college actively participated in the event along with teachers.

A workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights in Software” was organized by Department of Computers on 10/09/2018. The speaker for the session was erudite expert, Dr. Satish Kumar from Swami Sarwanand Giri, PU Regional Campus, Hoshiarpur.He explained very lucidly the concept of Intellectual Property Rights. This workshop was highly informative.

An Extension Lecture was organised by Science and environment club. The topic of the lecture was environmental changes. Mr. Daljit singh was the resource person.Mr. Sukhwinder singh was the convener of the event.

A one -day workshop on Fabric and Block Painting was organized by the Fashion Designing Department on 08/09/2018. 20 students from different classes participated in the workshop. The students were told about various methods of painting the fabric. Mrs. Manjit Kaur, Dr. Monika, Dr.Palwinder Kaur, Ms. Monika Kanwar, and Mrs. Jyoti Bala were present on the occasion.

Hindi Diwas was Celebrated by Department of Hindi on 14th september 2018

NSS unit& Red Ribbon Club organised a Blood donation camp on 8thSeptember 2018 in collaboration with Panjab Kesari on the death anniversary of Amar Sahid Lala Jagat Narayan Ji. Around 280 blood donors got registered and out of these 117 people donated blood.

Talent hunt was organised in college campus. more than 100 students participated in this event.

One day Seminar on Emerging Trends in Information technology and its influence in various sectors was organised by Computer Society on 27/08/2018. The Resource person was Dr. Rajiv Kapoor.The Seminar focused on the key concepts related to Robotics and their applications.Total 50 participants were present in the seminar.

A One Day workshop on Intellectual property rights was organized by the Economics Department in the college on 24/08/2018.26 participants including Faculty members and Students of the College participated in the programme. Mr. Sanjeev Kumar explained IPR agreement administration, IPR Practices harmonization, the process of filing the Patent application, Copyright application, Trademark application, Design application and the Scheme for Facilitating Start-ups Intellectual Property Protection

Teej festival was celebrated in college campus. Miss. Manmeet kaur from B.com-III was given the title of Miss Teej.

Independence Day was celebrated in college campus on 15/8/2018. Flag hoisiting was done by worthy president.

Department of Punjabi organised an extension lecture on Folk Literature. Prof.Rajan Sharma from D.A.V college was the resource person.

Department of History organised an extension lecture on Indian Freedom Struggle and Partition on 11-08-2018. Mr. Manoj kumar was the resource person.

Regenerate:A Competition on Best out of E-Waste and Poster Making was organized by Department of Computer Application on 11-08-2018

Mehandi designing competition was organized by fashion designing department on 11th August 2018. The theme of the competition was "Teej festival. The worthy guests of the competition were Honourable President Madam Mrs. Hema Sharma Ji and Sh.shri Gopal Ji.The Honourable judges of the competition were Prof.Manjit kaur and Prof.Monika. The students from different streams of the college participated in this competition.

S.D. College Hoshiarpur celebrated Martyrdom day of Shahid Udham Singh on 31stJuly 2018. Principal Dr, Nand Kishor ji threw light on his life and contribution in the freedom struggle of India.35 students were present in this event.

NSS Volunteers of the college took part in Hiking And Tracking Camp At Manali From 29th July to 8th August 2018.

20 NSS volunteers planted trees in the adopted village Fadman on 24th July 2018 and planted saplings of various types to protect given their contribution to protect our environment.

17 NSS volunteers participated in tree plantation programme organised in college campus and Piplanwala locality on 18th July 2018 and planted saplings of various types.
