Events in College

A Seminar on “on Patent Rights: Issues and Challenges” was organized by the Department of Biotechnology on10/04/2020. Advocate Sanjeev Kumar was the resource person. Around 30 participants took participation in this event. Resource person shared his valuable views with the audience.

A Special workshop on Intellectual Property Rights in Teaching was conducted by Department of Economics On 18/03/2020. Mrs. Monika was the convener of this event. All the faculty members were present in this workshop. Mr. Jatin Malhotra was the resource person.He explained various tools like patent, copyright, trademark etc and how to legally protect the creations of the human mind, such as inventions, literary, artistic work and research work.

A one-day National Seminar on topic History, Culture and Literature of the Marginalised was organised by Department of Languages and Humanities on 7-03-2020.It was sponsored by ICSSR(North-Western Regional Centre,PU,Chd). Resource Persons were Dr. Karamjit Singh(Ex-Prof and HOD,Pbi. Dept.,Kurukshetra University), Dr. Priyatosh Sharma(Associate Prof. History Dept. A one day national seminar on Women Empowerment and adverse effects of Drug Addiction was held in SD college in collaboration with International Human Right Organisation. Director North India, IHRO Mr. Amandeep Mittal was chief guest of the occassion. One Day National Seminar on Emerging Trends in Teaching and Laerning was organised by Department of Computers on 19/02/2020 in which 110 paper presenters and delegates participated from various regions. 25 international paper presenters also participated

The Department of Mathematics, S. D. College, Hoshiarpur organized a One Day workshop on “Introduction to MATHEMATICA” on10th February,2020. The workshop was designed for educating undergraduate students, of S. D. College, Hoshiarpur in MATHEMATICA. The aim of the workshop was to enrich the students with knowledge of computational software MATHEMATICA.

Department of Computers organized IT Literacy workshop for support staff of college from 20/01/2020 to 05/02/2020. A total of 15 employees of the college learnt basics of computer such as MS -Word, Windows interface, organizing their works in folders, shortcuts and Ms-paint ,Internet basics such as internet surfing, creating new mailbox and basics of email such as composing mails, forwarding, replying etc. were told.

Seminar on “IPR and Emerging Trends in Information Technology” was organised by Computer department on 04/12/2019, in which 43 participants were present. Mrs. Nisha Arora was the convener of the Seminar. She shared her experience and knowledge about IPR and made the students aware about various emerging trends in Information Technology.

S. D. College, Hoshiarpur organized a one day workshop on “Introduction to LaTeX” on 6/11/2019. The workshop was designed for educating undergraduate students, of S. D. College, Hoshiarpur in LaTeX. The session was focused on bringing more awareness regarding computational software LaTeX in the campus among students. Ms. Manpreet Kaur was the trainer all through the day.

Seminar on Techniques of Plagiarism Detection was organized by Department of Economics on 18/09/19. Resource person Mr. Suresh Kumar Bhardwaj shared valuable views regarding techniques of Plagiarism Detection. 59 participants gained the valuable knowledge shared by Mr. Suresh Kumar Bhardwaj.

Blood Donation camp was organised on 8th September 2019 in collaboration with punjab kesari group

A One Day Seminar on the topic “Patent Laws in research” was organized by the Department of Commerce on 17/08/19. Advocate Sanjeev Kumar was the resource person of the event. The resource provided insights into how to file patents.The event was attended by 62 participants .

A Workshop on Art and Craft was organized by the Department of Fashion Designing on 01/08/2019. Mrs Manmeet was the resource person of this workshop. During the workshop 15 students learnt various techniques of painting and drawing. Principal Dr. Nand Kishor Congratulated and facilitated the Fashion Designing Department for organizing the event as it is important to conduct such events for students.

The worthy guests of the competition were Honourable President Madam Mrs. Hema Sharma Ji and Sh.shri Gopal Ji. The Honourable judges of the competition were Prof. Monika and Prof. Nisha Arora. The students from different streams of the college participated in this competition.
